Default Mil Dot Com forums a little over a year later

The Nazi mods and admin seemed to have gone.

But the damage has more than already been done.

One post wonders are on the rise (either they don't get the answers they want to hear or they find that the site is nothing special).

In 2000, there was a massive advertising campaign for the site. I saw it on billboards (mostly near bases), Leatherneck magazine, the Hook (carrier aviation magazine), the Army Times publications and many other places. I joined during that period.

After that, the advert campaign ended, so (it appears) new membership for site was/is mostly by word of mouth and people still flocked until the last few years. I still see advert banner links from time to time.

I can only imagine what the word of mouth descriptions of the site are now; plus the disappointment of those who join through seeing the advert link.

I guess whoever spends money for MDC and the forums has a lot to burn and doesn't really care.

Not too long ago (like a few months), the visitor count was still well over hundred. Still less than the hey days, but that's still a lot of visitors.

The last few days have been hovering between 30 and 60 visitors.

Regular member participation is less than ten: it's the norm these days.

Today there was hardly any traffic.

Yesterday they re-invented the wheel again!

I found it really helpful when I went in the guard in the 2003-2006 period. Very active with lots of great posts and Q&A. I left for a while
, came back and it was almost dead, so many previous categories that were very interesting to read through had disappeared.

What was your screen name?

The first major change was middle of last decade.

The last one was last June-July 2015 which many people fell out of favor with the new regime (Nazi-like).

Less than ten members go online there these days.

I Know! Soon I will be leaving for good!

The forums had so much personality to them because of the members.

The admins drove that out of them.
