Default SSG Merle E. Walker

My Grandfather on my mother's side of the family joined the Army 12 Mar 1941.

He trained in England and landed on Omaha beach First day, wave #2. He was a forward observer with the 371st Artillery Battalion. He was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge At Lanzerath, Belgium. He only shared a few stories with me shortly before he passed. After the war he moved to Yuma Arizona where he was a Foreman on a Colorado river dredge. He and my grandmother both worked on the Boulder dam project. Back in the day.

Here are some of his awards.
